As a Maxillofacial Prosthetist you will want to maintain the commitment to excellence and professionalism that membership offers you and your patients.

There are incremental levels of membership. Each highlights your experience, expertise and commitment to your practice and patient care.

Membership levels:

Associate Member (AIMPT)

Those who are engaged in a course of study or post-qualification vocational training recognised by the council of the IMPT and are in the paid employment of a maxillofacial or dental laboratory service. An Associate Member may also be an individual who expresses an interest and commitment to maxillofacial prosthetics and are able to satisfy the council of the IMPT of their warrant.

Associate Member Overseas (AIMPT)

Those individuals, outside of the UK, who express an interest and commitment to maxillofacial prosthetics and are able to satisfy the council of the IMPT of their warrant.

Full Membership (MIMPT)

Those who have attained qualifications in maxillofacial prosthetics recognised by the council of the IMPT and completed a 2-year period of vocational training within a maxillofacial laboratory service deemed suitable by the council of the IMPT. They must also have successfully completed the Assessment Interview Board (AIB) process.

Those employed as Maxillofacial Prosthetists within a maxillofacial laboratory service recognised by the council of the IMPT.

A Member may independently execute the commonly accepted practice of a MPT and accept responsibility for what they, as a practitioner of the specialty, are professionally and personally able and competent to carry out.

A Member may supervise Student/Associate level MPTs in the practice of maxillofacial prosthetics.

A Member holds full voting powers within the IMPT and is also eligible to stand as a council officer to administer the operational and strategic business of the profession.

Fellowship (FIMPT)

Awarded to those who meet the criteria of Full Membership and after council acceptance of a research thesis or in recognition for outstanding service and contribution to the profession of maxillofacial prosthetics.

Honorary Membership (MIMPT [Hon])

Awarded to non-members for outstanding service to maxillofacial prosthetics and to retiring member for outstanding service.

Retired or Concessional Membership (IMPT [Ret])

For those who wish to remain informed of IMPT activities after retirement or during a career break.

Member in Training (MiT) Application

Applications will be presented at the next IMPT council meeting (held quarterly) after returning a signed form and payment of the correct amount as detailed in the application.

A 50% reduction in membership fees is applicable for applications confirmed at the October meeting. Applications approved at the December meeting will require full payment however, membership will be granted until the 31st March two years after.
